Didn t realize that USB to serial cables are sometimes different. I bought a cheaper one for use with a modem and a Toshiba telephone system. The cheaper cable didn t work, but this one does. I have used the other type (Prolific known under other brands) with good success, but this time it required a better cable. I don t know if it s the hardware or the drivers, but it works.
