After my first hand blender (a Braun) broke after 5 years, I went shopping around for hand blenders, bought a few inexpensive ones that had various flaws (see my other reviews), and I ended up with a Braun as my second hand blender. Four years later, Braun #2 broke. I bought this one because I had seen it got good reviews on Consumer Search, and I wanted to avoid buying the hand blenders that cost twice as much.
I got it at a box store, where it was a few dollars less than here. It comes in a sturdy case, and the whisk attachment is cute. It pureed a banana in milk well on its first use, but after its first hand washing, there were big drops of water inside the clear plastic portion. I hung it to dry in our dry winter climate, and two days later, the water still hadn t evaporated. Not wanting to own a moldy hand blender, I returned it.
It s possible that it was just this particular blender that I got that was defective. It seems like these hand blenders should either have some way to prevent water from getting inside the wand, or a large opening that allows them to dry completely. For whatever reason, this one didn t dry completely.
