This product is supposed to be Vista compatible. I received it and read the manual which said, simply insert it in the PCI slot, connect the cables and boot. This did not work, Vista crashed and failed to load. Looking at the BSOD memory dump codes, I realized that Vista does not know how to use the controller yet, as it does not have the driver. But I could not install the driver because Vista failed to load. Perfect Chicken and egg problem...
I called the Highpoint-Tech number in California. I was asked a couple of questions and was told that it was already 5:45 (their official working hour ended at 6pm Pacific Time) and they would call me the next day. Nobody called of course. Neither product documentation nor Highpoint Tech web site offered anything useful.
To resolve the issue I needed to install Vista drivers, which required the controller to be connected. so, I reinstalled my old controller and on a separate slot installed this item. Then, I was able to boot into Vista using the old controller and install drivers for RocketRaid.
I finally decided to take it out and send back to Amazon as it kept on beeping whenever PC crashed.
