You don t always get what you pay for. Cheap doesn t always mean bad, and expensive doesn t always mean good.
In this case cheap was the way to go. The Nyko Core controller for $19.99 is one of the best purchases I have made for my PS3 in quite a while. From the moment I turned on my PS3 and started playing Resident Evil 5 I knew I had made a good choice in controller.
(Design) Designed very similar to that of the Sony brand controller. The controller is a little bit bigger than the Sony brand controller which was a huge plus to people like me who have big hands. It s not so big that people with smaller hands will be unable to use it. It is only slightly bigger than the Sony controller. The analog sticks have a great resistance level. The buttons are very responsive. The D-pad may look cheap, but works great. Also the controller doesn t have that glossy look to it like the Sony brand does. Honestly I felt as if I had a better grip on it due to being slightly bigger and not being glossy. It s not a pretty controller, but is a well functioning one.
(Features) It comes equipped with trigger style L2 and R2 buttons similar to the Xbox360 controller. It has vibration feedback which works great. Plus the vibration motors add a little extra weight to the controller that some will like. You don t feel like your going to crush it in your hands. It has a 9 foot cord that some will like and some will hate.
1. Looks cheap (but functions great)
2. Corded (negative to some, but not to me personally)
3. No Sixaxis functionality.
All in all this is a great controller. I am very pleased that I picked it up despite the fact that it looks cheap. The controller works great and if you can live without wireless capability and sixaxis functionality then pick it up. When you see Sony s controller priced at $54.99 and Nyko s controller priced at $19.99, rest assured that the $19.99 will work just as well.
