I give a lot of technical powerpoint presentations both at my office and at clients location. I ve needed to upgrade from my lowly (and oh so common) red laser pointer for a while. At the same time, I needed something more than a remote cordless mouse to run my presentations. My boss told me about this Logitech presenter/pointer and said it was the best he had ever used. Being a bit of a Logitech fan myself (mice, keyboards, webcams) I jumped on this recommendation and ordered one on Amazon.
I couldn t be happier with this selection.
The laser (green..) is really bright! It even works on some large LCD displays where the red ones won t even reflect (due to the coating).
As a presentation tool it is extremely versatile and easy to get used to. It fits very well in my hand and rarely do I press the wrong button for advance, back up, blank or get out of presentation mode.
In terms of functionality, it keeps things simple. I have not yet played around with the timer feature as this is not a big need for me, but the small LCD display showing elapsed time is very readable (exception: when the room is darkest). It can be set up to run the presentation with preset times, or to prompt you to move to the next slide.
As mentioned above the ergonomics (at least for me) are excellent.
The USB transmitter slides right into the bottom of the presenter for storage or when not in use.
The "recognition time" the first time you plug the transmitter in your PC is very reasonable (20 sec.).
I ve had the presenter for three months and have used it fairly extensively. The laser (which probably uses up most of the battery..) is still strong.
The biggest problem is the covetous eyes of co-workers and clients!
It comes in a nice soft protective leatherette pouch and the unit is sturdily built.
I highly recommend this pointer/presenter if you want a reliable tool that s fun to use (and reduces the amount of gadgets you have to carry around).
