When I first opened the package for this pointer, I was thoroughly confused. You see, the laser pointer was not working at all. So I put different batteries in it figuring that maybe the new batteries were dead. They weren t. Finally, I decided to open the instruction manual.
The Kanguru Presenters Mouse 2 has 2 different modes that you can switch between. To do so, you need to hold down the mode button for 5 seconds. A light will flash to a different color (the color depends on the mode) on the bottom of the device. Furthermore, the laser pointer has a button combination that needs to be pressed before you can use it.
With that being said, thing about the advantages. If you re using the mouse pointer in a place where small children love to pick up the pointer and use your laser, you no longer have to worry about that problem (the laser pointer must be turned on after 2 hours of non-use, so every time you leave, the device goes back to preset mode), thus saving you batteries and the annoyances of telling children that are not your own to put the device down.
Also, say that you use your PC to play some mood music before your event and you have announcement slides scrolling through in the background, you just flip your Kanguru mouse pointer to the media mode, pause your player, and you re good to go.
Overall, I rate this product a 4 out of 5. The only reason I do not give it a 5 out of 5 is because I believe they could make it more user friendly, as when I have guests using the pointer, I will have to teach them how to use it before their presentation.
