Basically, this is a cheap piece of crap.
Imagine, if you will, your PS3 or PS3 Slim.
It slopes toward the back, which is a flat rectangular shape, and has input/outputs for power, HDMI, etc.
Now imagine, if you will, that someone -- Nyko -- produced an aftermarket product to fit this rectangular piece of plastic on the back of your PS3/Slim.
I would imagine -- and maybe this is just me -- that the product would hug both of the short sides of the rectangle, and thus keep itself firmly in place.
The design team behind this blunder of product does not share my vision...
Nyko s Intercooler only has one arm to hug only one side of the PS3. Think of this: hugging someone with just one arm. You don t get a very good grip, and that person is likely to escape your warm embrace.
Welcome to the Nyko Intercooler. It falls out of place more often than Donald Trump s coif, and while the unit feels heavier -- better built -- than I expected when I ordered it -- and btw, it arrived in a box big enough for a microwave -- this one-arm-hugging system escapes logic and does a lousy job of holding the unit flush to the back of my Slim. This results in the power supply disconnecting from the PS3, and an end to all merriment and good times.
I don t know what, if any, better options exist, but I actually bought this thing based on several, online recommendations that I read for it, which only leaves me further concerned for the state of cooling accessories available for the PS3 Slim.
