I purchased this radio at an electronics store intending to use it at my desk. I work in a huge brick building away from the windows and needed something with an antenna to pick up more than one station. I currently use a Coby CX-9 portable that uses the headphone cord as an antenna, and it only picks up one station. I was hoping the collapsible stick antenna would work better.
Unfortunately, this radio also picked up just the one FM station. It has a switch on the side for tuning in local or distant stations, but this made no noticeable difference. It also has a jack for using an external antenna, but the jack uses a type of connector not typically used by other radios I looked at. (Most radios used a coaxial type connector)
Another feature that made it unsuitable for the office was the loud click that the buttons made when pressed.
The unit has some good features. The sound it produces is clear for a single mid-range speaker. I has a choice of battery, cord, or 9v transformer power input. (Only the power cord was included.) The display is easy to read.
Generally, it s a good radio for the money, provided you have a clear signal.
